VALENTINE’S Day might have come and gone - but here's a romantic image from 1954 to enjoy.
The location was New Brighton - and the couple were Alfred Mahon and Jean Boulton, who were celebrating their engagement.

Mr Mahon said: “She was sitting alone in the waiting area of the Embassy Cinema, Seacombe.
“I got talking to her, her name was Jean Boulton and she was 20. I was 21. Walking her home, I proposed to her and she accepted.
“We were engaged on Sunday, October 3 1954. To mark the day, we went to New Brighton to have a photo taken by the photographer on the promenade.
“We married the following month, on November 4.
“Today our Golden Wedding is but a memory but next year will see us celebrate our Emerald anniversary with our three sons, daughter-in-law and four grandchildren, who we love dearly.
